The Ministry of Culture (MoC), Government of India and its attached office, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) are the nodal agencies to host the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee in India in 2024. The Archaeological Survey of India is the custodian of 3697 ancient monuments and archaeological sites of national importance in India and is responsible for their protection, preservation and conservation.
