Visa & Entry

Passport Requirements

All participants in the 46th session of the Committee are required to possess an international passport that is valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of entry Indian Territory, with sufficient pages for visa stamps.

It is mandatory that the passport or travel document be recognized and valid for the return of its bearer and that it does not contain any restriction or condition, whether it is an ordinary, diplomatic, or special passport.

Visa Requirements

Only registered persons will be eligible to apply for visas, where required, and to enter the territory of the Host Country to attend the Committee session. Please note that the UNESCO World Heritage Centre will be unable to intervene in any visa decisions taken by the authorities of the Government of Republic of India.

  • Please note that once you have registered online via UNESCO website and your accreditation has been granted, you will receive an email confirming your registration, and you will be redirected to the Host Country's website to finalize the visa process.

  • Please keep a printout of the email confirming your registration email which would be considered as a proof of attendance/invitation to participate in this event in India.

  • All participants must check Entry Requirements to India in accordance with the nationality and the type of passport they hold as per MHA guidelines indicated on webpage: https://www.mha.gov.in/PDF_Other/AnnexI_01022018.pdf and, if required, with the nearest Consulate or the Diplomatic Mission of India in their home country. The list of diplomatic missions of India abroad with their current contact details is available at weblink https://www.mea.gov.in/indian-mission-abroad.htm

  • Diplomatic / Official/ UNLP Passport holders:
  • Holders of and diplomatic and official passports may please verify their visa-exemption status for India at weblink https://www.mea.gov.in/bvwa-menu.htm

  • If they are not in the Visa exempt category, they would need to apply for Visa at the nearest Indian Mission/ Post as per procedure indicated at para (ix) below. Apart from the documents mentioned therein, they are requested to also furnish an Official Note Verbale from their respective Foreign Offices along with their Visa application. It would be advisable to visit the website of the concerned Indian Mission/ Post before applying to verify if any additional documents are required.

  • Diplomatic/ Official/ UNLP Passport holders may not apply through the eVisa Portal.

  • Ordinary Passport holders:
  • Individuals wanting to apply for e-Visa for India may apply on the e-visa portal https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html and select “e-Conference” type of visa on the portal.

  • They may also apply to the nearest Indian Mission/Post by submitting the documents mentioned at para (ix) below.

  • Documents to be submitted for Visa application:
  • Individuals are advised to go through the website of the concerned Indian Missions/ Posts where they would be applying for 'Conference Visa' to attend the event, to see the full list of documents required. Normally, the following documents are required to be submitted:

    • Printout of duly filled and signed Visa form filled online at website indianvisaonline.gov.in by selecting the country from where they are applying. Select category "Conference visa" in type of Visa;

    • Copy of invitation/registration email received for participation in the 46th Session of the WHC in New Delhi;

    • Valid Passport with minimum 6 months validity with sufficient number of blank pages;

    • Two photographs of requisite specifications;

    • For Diplomatic/ Official/ UNLP Passport Holders - Note Verbale from the concerned Foreign Office/UN body.
